Briea McDaniels, Community Field Coordinator

My name is Briea McDaniels, and my nickname is Brie. I am currently a community Field Coordinator at Boston Green Academy - Middle School in Brighton. I’ve been in this role for the past 10 years, at BGA and previously at Brighton HS. Prior to joining the Boston Public Schools, I was a Street Worker with the Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF). I spent 10 years working in various neighborhoods, interacting with gang members and their families, promoting non violent ways of handling problems, and addressing the needs of the community from a holistic perspective. I enjoyed that work because I was able to provide an array of resources & services to families and encourage youth to find alternative lifestyles to dangerous activities.
After high school, I knew I wanted to work in the field of human services, criminal justice, and youth development. I decided to go to college. I attended Salem State College and received a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. Throughout my college studies and my work experience, I’ve learned how to interact with diverse groups of people, personally and professionally, and I’ve developed strong advocacy skills. I am now at a place in life where I am solidifying what’s next for me. My goal is to complete my Master’s Degree in School Counseling/Mental Health. When I find free time between work, school, and life, I love to workout, ride bikes, and most of all, spend quality time with my family.
